Submission of Articles

CONTEXT welcomes well-researched essays and book reviews from all aspects of the humanities and the social sciences, as well as stimulating cultural works (poems, paintings, photographs, etc). Experts in the disciplines covered by the articles received carry out blind reviews of the articles, and their anonymized reports are sent to submitters, if necessary.

The essays, which should not exceed 20 A4 pages (except in some special cases), and which should conform with the current APA style, should be submitted either in duplicate (for hard copies) or by email. All text submissions should be .doc while images should be on PDF.

CONTEXT does not publish articles that have already appeared elsewhere. It also does not publish articles that offend sexual, ethnic, or racial groups, either in content or expression. All submitters should avoid disclosures of their identities within the body of their articles and also minimize references to their own publications.

Those who prefer to submit hard copies for review should indicate their names, titles, and addresses on a detachable cover page of each article or book review. The subsequent page should carry the title of the article or book review. Each submission should be accompanied by a 200-word abstract, five keywords,  and a brief biodata of the author(s).

Each contributor receives two complimentary copies of the issue of the journal in which their articles appear and ten electronic offprints of their articles. They can order extra copies afterwards at reduced rates.

Submissions and other correspondence should be sent to: Obododimma Oha (Editor), Context: Journal of Social & Cultural Studies, Box 21620, University of Ibadan Post Office, Ibadan, NIGERIA. Email:,,
